Back Up Bird (with Sunglass Wings) is a luminous work of upcycled glass bird art. Layers of oil and resin create a surface that shifts from inky depth to wet-shine as you move, so colours dim and then shimmer. The bird’s wings are composed from broken mirror and vintage nail polish, arranged feather by feather without cutting so the natural break lines preserve a sense of quick, living motion. Along the branches, tiny metallic paint “skins” lifted from the studio drop sheet become bark and glints of light, adding texture without waste. It’s a piece about second chances and momentum—discarded fragments recomposed into grace, attitude, and a little wink from those “sunglass” wings.
