That is where Underwritten Botanicals began for me.
I gathered tiny leaves, flowers, seed pods and small botanical fragments from my own garden and preserved them within storied acrylic signage. Held in resin, these little pieces of plant life become a quiet record of colour, growth and memory — something to return to when the darker, colder parts of life start closing in.
Part of my Sign of the Times series, this work transforms materials once made to direct attention outward and gives them a more intimate purpose. Instead of selling, shouting or instructing, they now hold something tender. Something personal. Something worth noticing slowly.
At its heart, Underwritten Botanicals is about recognising that even when life feels wintry, beauty has not disappeared. It can still be held, remembered and lived with.
