The Challenge is a sculptural wall assemblage built through intuition, tension and the feeling that some artworks insist on being made.
I did not begin with a fixed story. I followed the materials.
High-contrast black forms, flashes of neon colour and graphic shapes gathered into a composition charged with movement and unresolved energy. As it developed, fragments began suggesting language, identity and inherited stories — things passed down, interrupted, misunderstood or left unfinished.
That openness matters to me.
The Challenge does not tell you exactly what those stories should mean. From across a room, it reads through scale, contrast and bold architectural form. Move closer and the surface begins to break apart into overlapping edges, smaller marks and unexpected relationships.
As a sculptural wall assemblage, it rewards repeated looking. One person may see family history. Another may see language, contradiction or something inherited but never fully understood.
One of the things I love most about art is that not everyone will see the same thing. That’s exactly as it should be. The longer we spend with a piece, the more of ourselves we can often uncover.
What do we do with the stories we inherit but never completely understand?

Storied canvas, salvaged acrylic offcuts, enamel and poured resin.
Through my practice of Circular Elevation, materials with previous lives are released from their original function and brought into a new sculptural conversation.

Perfect Placement
At just over one metre across, The Challenge can confidently hold a significant wall.
It works particularly well in a contemporary living space, entranceway, executive office, architectural foyer, hospitality interior or design-led commercial setting.
Give it breathing room. Its high-contrast structure is strongest against a clean architectural wall where the smaller details can reveal themselves gradually.
