Created during one of the most emotionally demanding periods of my life, Elevate became a reminder that beauty doesn't arrive after hardship has passed. Sometimes it is the very thing that helps us continue through it.

The phoenix has long been recognised as a symbol of renewal.

For me, this phoenix means something quieter.

It isn't about endlessly rising from the ashes.

It is about choosing beauty anyway.

Returning to the studio each day became an act of hope. Not because life felt beautiful, but because I needed to remember that beauty still existed. Creating this work became a way of holding onto curiosity, colour and possibility when those things felt increasingly difficult to find.

Created through my practice of Circular Elevation, storied materials continue their journey within every feather. Gifted paint, forgotten nail polish, rescued balloons from a children's celebration and glow sticks that once marked moments of joy are brought together, not to disguise their history, but to honour it.

Every material carries a story.

Every story carries worth.

Perhaps that is true of us too.
