Artist Concept:

"My Bleeding Eye" is a deeply personal piece, born out of intense emotion, dedication, and the fight for women's rights. I poured hours of love and labour into this artwork, navigating through endless challenges and learning as I went. Constructed from a giant pile of expired tampons and an old, rotten mirror frame, this piece represents resilience and transformation. The frame was in poor condition, riddled with borer, and required painstaking effort to restore. I built a plastic casing to contain the resin, a process involving countless hours of sanding, repouring, and refining.

This piece came to life during a pivotal moment—the Auckland abortion rights march, which was the first march I ever attended. Despite a severe ear infection that left me unable to hear much, I remained committed to the cause, a reflection of how much women's rights mean to me. If you look closely, you'll find a message woven into the artwork, a testament to the hours of contemplation it took to articulate my thoughts on such a critical issue. When placed outside, the frame absorbs light and glows for a few hours, a symbolic gesture of the lingering impact of the struggles women face.

Although this piece resides on my experimental page and is priced lower, it holds a special place in my heart. As much as I could keep working on it, I recognize the need to move forward. "My Bleeding Eye" is a farewell to an intense and transformative journey—what a trip it has been.

  • Junk and Disorderly Disclamer:

I'm in the business of Junk, old unused items people are going to throw away.  My joy as a recreator is to wave my magic shiny wand and transform them into something I am proud to send out my door.  It must be said though, that there is nothing perfect in the old (sorry mum) - if you look closely, you are going to find rust, scratches or the odd ugly backside as I endeavour to do my best in a sustainable way.  With upcycling, must come the understanding that these come to you flawed, like the sediment in an old wine, or a tarnished old coin from years ago.  Enjoy the old and celebrate our flaws, old or new!  Thanks MSM.

  • Large and Heavy Wall Sculpture Important Info

Note: Please be advised that my range of upcycled wall sculptures can be quite heavy. It is essential that they are hung correctly, on a suitable weight-bearing location of your wall, specifically on the stud line. All my artworks have been previously hung in-house for over 72 hours to ensure their ability to bear weight properly. Shipping of my heavier sculptures is available upon application.

  • Experimental Creations

These pieces represent a unique chapter in my artistic journey—works where I pushed the boundaries, explored new techniques, and experimented with ideas that sometimes took unexpected turns. While they may not fully align with my original vision, they carry a raw and authentic energy that makes them one-of-a-kind. Because these pieces are more experimental, I'm offering them at a special price, allowing you to own an original artwork that captures the essence of creative exploration without the premium price tag.
