Overstimulation is an explosive mid-sized upcycled sculpture constructed from discarded everyday objects — repurposed lighters, nails, golf tees, pickup sticks, wire, a dog collar, an old clock base, and a shimmering mannequin figure. Measuring approximately 53 cm x 43 cm, its compact form heightens the intensity of the chaotic, radiant core.
At the centre sits a dense, spiked “mainframe,” a hyper-saturated nucleus bristling with colour, texture, and pressure. The bejewelled figure reaches toward it, suspended between chaos and agency — a single moment frozen in the struggle to reconnect, reset, or simply breathe.
This sculpture examines how mental load and sensory overwhelm accumulate in modern life. The unseen tasks, relentless expectations, and constant input of the digital age take physical form through the layered, multidirectional materials. Despite its intensity, Overstimulation carries a defiant sense of beauty — a reminder that resilience can emerge from the very forces that challenge us.
Crafted entirely from salvaged and reclaimed materials, Overstimulation transforms waste into a striking, thought-provoking commentary on chaos, identity, and the pursuit of clarity.
