Artist Concept:
Finale Night captures the charged atmosphere of the last evening of a grand performance, where every moment is infused with heightened emotion. The upcycled orange kitchen splashback serves as the stage for this piece, with lightbulbs and nail polish bottles transformed into symbols of the bright lights and vivid colours that define a show’s final act. The cascading drips of colour represent the intensity and urgency of a performance reaching its crescendo—vibrant, powerful, and fleeting. Yet, as the final notes fade and the lights dim, there’s a quiet undercurrent of nostalgia and reflection. Finale Night speaks to the ephemeral beauty of these moments, celebrating both the exhilaration of the climax and the melancholy of its passing. This piece invites viewers to pause and consider the emotional complexity of endings—the joyous spectacle and the tender sadness that accompanies the closing of the curtain.
Junk and Disorderly Disclaimer:
I am in the business of Junk, old unused items people are going to throw away. My joy as a recreator is to wave my magic shiny wand and transform them into something I am proud to send out my door. It must be said though, that there is nothing perfect in the old (sorry mum) - if you look closely, you are going to find rust, scratches or the odd ugly backside as I endeavour to do my best in a sustainable way. With upcycling, must come the understanding that these come to you flawed like the sediment in an old wine, or a tarnished old coin from years ago. Enjoy the old and celebrate our flaws, old or new! Thanks MSM.
Materials: Upcycled orange kitchen splashback, old lightbulbs, old nail polish bottles, wood, acrylic, resin, and Nitrocellulose.
Showtime!
My Shiny Perspective:
Finale Night is like the grand finale of your favourite show, where the lights flash, the colours pop, and everything is just a little bit more fabulous because it’s the last hurrah. Picture this: the orange stage is set, the lightbulbs are shining like the stars they are, and those nail polish bottles? They’re the divas of the night, dripping with drama and flair as they take their final bow. But just as the last colour slides down, there’s that bittersweet moment—you know, the one where you’re both thrilled by the show and a little sad it’s over. Finale Night is a celebration of those big, bold closing moments, and a reminder that while the show might end, the memories (and a few glittering drips) will linger on.
Large and Heavy Wall Sculpture Important Info:
Note: Please be advised that my range of upcycled wall sculptures can be quite heavy. It is essential that they are hung correctly, on a suitable weight-bearing location of your wall, specifically on the stud line. All my artworks have been previously hung in-house for over 72 hours to ensure their ability to bear weight properly. Shipping of my heavier sculptures is available upon application.
