Collective Light is a one-of-a-kind circular wall artwork created from reclaimed LED light bulbs collected slowly over the course of a year. The work is built on a repurposed mirror base, with the glass removed and reimagined as a vessel for light, repetition, and quiet human generosity.
Each LED bulb used in this piece was rescued from recycling streams and set aside by people who noticed, remembered, and helped — often without knowing exactly what the artwork would become. What many people don’t realise is that upcycled artworks often begin long before anything is made. They begin with waiting, with conversations, and with trust that the right materials will arrive in time.
Measuring 91cm in diameter, Collective Light reads as both a complete form and a gathering of individual parts. Up close, the viewer encounters subtle variations in colour, lens pattern, and reflection. From a distance, the work resolves into a calm, unified surface — a visual reminder that collective effort can create something quietly powerful.
This artwork reflects MyShinyMadness’ artist-led, fully upcycled practice, where circular materials, community involvement, and environmental responsibility are embedded directly into the making process. Collective Light is designed to hold space — in a home, workplace, or public setting — without demanding attention, offering instead a sense of balance, patience, and shared contribution.
