Great Day at the Cake Shop is an exuberant upcycled mixed media art work that turns a rescued mirror into a centrepiece of colour and shine. Hand-layered acrylics create pools of gloss that catch the light, while disused makeup brushes radiate like piping tips in a cake-decorator’s mandala. Upcycled embroidery thread and a vintage 1980s fibre-optic stand anchor the composition, and leftover faux fur adds a playful Muppet-show flourish. This piece celebrates reuse and maximal joy—designed to brighten a room and keep materials in circulation.
