Overstimulation is a bold, large-scale sculpture about mental load, created from upcycled lighters, nails, plastic forks, wires, and a shimmering mannequin. At the centre sits a chaotic blue “mainframe”—spiky and overloaded—symbolising the relentless demands on the modern mind. The bejewelled figure attempts to plug herself back in, seeking a reset in a world that won’t slow down.
This sculpture uses found objects to explore how overstimulation and pressure build in unseen ways. From parenting to career expectations, invisible labour to emotional management—this piece visualises the overwhelming weight of “keeping it all together.”
Crafted from salvaged materials, Overstimulation is both sustainable and thought-provoking, offering a sharp commentary on modern chaos and resilience.
